Canvas · Edit
Canvas edit mode supports clicking elements and drawing a region. After selecting, describe a change in the floating composer, open the refine panel, or add the element to chat as context.
Turn on edit
Click Edit (pen icon) in the toolbar below the preview. Click again to exit. Edit can stay on while Tweak is open—e.g. edit one slide and adjust deck colors in the right rail at the same time.
Point select
Click a title, paragraph, chart, or other element. A highlight and floating bar appear. The default is a chat composer; you can also open refine properties, or add the element to the left chat.
- Elements highlight on hover so you pick the right target.
- Only one element is pinned on the canvas at a time; clicking another retargets.
- Press Esc or click empty space to deselect.
- Point select can attach a snapshot of the area for context.
Draw to select
Click and drag to draw a rectangle on the slide. Use this for a block of layout, multiple elements at once, or when you cannot name a single element. Describe the change in the floating composer and send.
- Draw and point select are mutually exclusive: drawing clears a pin; pinning clears the drawn region.
- The drawn region is sent with a snapshot to the Agent.
- The draw composer is chat-only—no refine panel, and no “Add to chat”.
Chat or refine
After you pin an element, the floating bar has two mutually exclusive paths: describe the change in chat, or open Refine properties on the left to edit color, type, chart data, and similar controls yourself. Only one path is visible at a time.
- Chat: type an intent in the floating composer and send (↑). The Agent edits only the pinned element—best for tone, structure, or changes you cannot name as a property.
- Refine: open the property panel and edit copy, color, alignment, or chart data directly. Changes preview live; click Apply to save. No chat turn, no allowance used.
- The two paths are exclusive: opening refine hides the composer; “AI edit” switches back and keeps any unsent draft.
Add to chat
If you are not ready to edit yet, pin the element and click “Add to chat” on the right of the floating bar. A quote chip appears in the left composer—nothing is sent, and the Agent does not start.
The canvas pins only one element at a time. To target several at once, repeat: pin → Add to chat → pin the next. Chips accumulate in the left composer; write one instruction and send them together.
- Useful for comparing two elements, keeping a title and subtitle in the same voice, or changing a chart and its takeaway together.
- Adding the same element twice is deduped—you will not get two identical chips.
- Drawn regions cannot be added to chat; for a layout block, send from the floating composer after drawing.
- You can still type @ in the left composer to mix slides or assets with element chips.
Example prompts
Make the headline eight characters or fewer—more formal tone.
Point-select the title in edit mode and send from the floating composer—only that target changes.
Turn this block into three columns—icon plus one short line each, aligned cleanly.
Draw a region, then describe the change; the snapshot helps the Agent see context.
(Select chart → Refine properties) Set Q3 revenue to 12M in the data table.
Precise values, colors, and type sizes are faster in refine than in chat.
Shorten this headline—more formal tone.
Pin the title → Add to chat, then write the instruction in the left composer. Useful when you pick the target first and phrase the request later.
Keep the title and subtitle in the same voice, and shorten the subtitle; change only the chart colors—leave the data alone.
Pin title, subtitle, then chart—Add to chat each time—then send this once from the left composer.
Change layout and copy on slide 3 only—leave every other slide alone.
Broader or cross-slide edits work from the left chat panel without pinning an element.
